The shortage of personnel in the Russian army was clearly manifested after the numerous human losses suffered by the occupiers in the first days of the war.

This was stated by Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, speaking on the air of "Military Television of Ukraine".

According to Skibytskyi, in March-April, the Russian leadership made a decision to use in combat operations only servicemen who signed the relevant contracts with the Russian armed forces. When the occupiers had a significant increase in the number of dead and wounded servicemen, in Russia the number of those willing to sign a contract for military service decreased.

"In the Russian army, many units are only responsible for the protection and defense of facilities. In addition, Russia has a powerful contingent in Syria. Russia has an extensive network of military bases near the former USSR. Thus, if you put it all together, it turns out to be 300-350 thousand, which Russia can use in the war against Ukraine", - stressed the representative of the military intelligence of Ukraine.
