The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine proposes to the Council of National Security and Defense to apply sanctions against the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill (Volodymyr Gundyaev) and other representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church.
"The Cabinet of Ministers has approved proposals for the application of personal sanctions for 10 years against the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill and seven other representatives. The list will still be considered by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the President of Ukraine. In addition, their agreement will allow the same list to be applied to the international community to introduce the same sanctions in other countries," the government portal said.
In addition to Gundyaev, it is proposed to introduce sanctions against the head of the department of external church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk (Gryhoriy Alfeyev), his deputy Archpriest Mykola Balashov, Metropolitan of the Pskov and Porkhiv Russian Orthodox Church Tikhon (Georgiy Shevchenko) Volochkov).
It is also proposed to introduce sanctions against the archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church, writer, preacher and teacher Artemiy Volodymyrov; Mitrophorian archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church, preacher, TV presenter Andrii Tkachev; Russian Orthodox theologian, pedagogue and publicist, doctor of theology, honored professor of the Moscow Orthodox Theological Academy and Seminary Oleksiy Osypov.
According to the notification, the sanctions include the blocking of assets, the cessation of resource transit, flights and transportation through Ukraine, the suspension of economic and financial obligations, the ban on participation in the privatization and leasing of state property, the termination of cultural exchanges and cooperation, and the cancellation of official visits.
