On Monday, August 29, the Ukrainian military began fighting for Kherson.
This was reported by the Deputy Chief of the Odesa District Military Administration Oleksiy Matsulevych in Telegram.
"It's official. The battles for the city of Kherson have begun!" he wrote.
According to Natalia Gumenyuk, head of the joint coordination press center of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, the enemy has been building up its forces and gathering its reserves for quite some time.
"But our previous measures, what we called fire control over the enemy's logistics, gave their results: warehouses with ammunition were destroyed, concentrations of military equipment were destroyed, air defense installations were destroyed - all this definitely weakened the enemy, but we do not have empty hopes, the enemy is enough powerful, and even the fact that he has moral destabilization somewhere in his troops can be used by us to our advantage, because it is too early to relax," Humenyuk said.
Humenyuk noted that all information about hostilities should be kept quiet.
"There is news, it has inspired everyone, then we need to be patient and understand the rules and sequence of actions of military units," Humenyuk added.
Deputy of the Kherson Regional Council, Serhiy Khlan, reported that the fighting is taking place not only in one direction, but along the entire front line.
"This is an absolutely logical beginning of the de-occupation after the preparatory actions carried out by our Armed Forces in the last month. It is a completely consistent beginning of the counter-actions and the de-occupation of the Kherson region," he said on the air of the telethon.
Khlan emphasized that the transport routes and bridges over which the occupiers transferred equipment and ammunition are currently not passable.
"The occupiers cannot throw anything over. We are all waiting for good news - the de-occupation of Kherson and the Kherson region," he summarized.
