British Foreign Minister Liz Truss, who now has the best chance of becoming the country's new prime minister, said she could not yet say who French President Emmanuel Macron is for London.
This is reported by Politico.
Answering a direct question about who Macron is for Britain - "friend or enemy", Truss said: "It is not clear yet. But if I become prime minister, I will judge him not by words, but by deeds."
In turn, Tras's competitor for the position of leader of the Conservative Party of Britain, former finance minister Rishi Sunak, unequivocally called the French president a "friend".
Macron has a difficult relationship with the last British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, while the head of the British Foreign Office is criticized in the EU for his intentions to rewrite part of the Brexit agreement regarding Northern Ireland.
Earlier, Liz Truss said that if elected to the position of the head of the British government, she would be ready to use nuclear weapons, even if it meant "global destruction".
