Russia has reduced the pace of its offensive in Ukraine due to the depletion of its resources - Budanov

Russia has slowed down the pace of its offensive in Ukraine due to exhaustion of its resource base and fatigue from hostilities, according to the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov.

"Russia has slowed down its pace of attack quite a lot. The reason is the significant depletion of the resource base of the Russian Federation," Budanov said on the air of a single telethon on Wednesday.

He added that the Russian occupiers also have moral and psychological fatigue from hostilities.

According to him, the destruction of the enemy's equipment in Crimea made the Russians think. "They began to understand that their army is not that strong ... that their inflated air defense system (they call Crimea an unsinkable aircraft carrier, which is protected by the best air defense systems in Russia) ... is not really capable of protecting, first of all, temporarily captured territory ...", - noted Budanov.

He emphasized that the war showed that the Russian army is "not the second army at all," as it was believed, "and not even the fourth."

Answering the question whether it is possible to say that the turning point in the war, predicted by Budanov, has come, the head of the GUR said: "There is still some time until the end of August."
