Russia's ongoing war with Ukraine is not going the way Vladimir Putin had hoped, the former head of the British General Staff, General Lord Richard Dunnatt, has said, writes The Guardian.
"I think that the war turned out not at all as Vladimir Putin imagined. This is probably his worst scenario, his terrible scenario.
If we go back six months ago, to February 24... what he had in mind and what the international media was waiting for was a lightning strike from Belarus to Kyiv (... And of course, it didn't happen" – Dannatt said on Sky News.
Dunnatt noted that Russian forces had to "reconsider" their actions because they were unable to win a quick victory over the Ukrainian military.
The losses of the Russian occupiers since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine have already reached about 45,400 people, 1,919 tanks, 198 helicopters and hundreds of pieces of military equipment.
