In Spain, 20 passengers received injuries, three of them serious after they were discharged from a train that was damaged by a forest fire near Castellón on the eastern outskirts of Spain.

The train ran directly from Sagunto in the northern province of Valencia to Saragossa. The driver stopped the train, as it was too dangerous to continue running because of the fire, and he was ready to reverse the train.

A few passengers, fearing that the train would burn down, panicked and flew out, breaking the windows.

"Soon they realized they had been caught in the fire, they returned to the train, and some of them sustained injuries," said a representative of the Spanish railway company Renfe.

Two of the victims with serious injuries were evacuated by helicopter. Others, including a 10-year-old girl, were taken to nearby hospitals.

The head of Valencia, Ximo Puch, said that over 1000 people were evacuated from their homes in the region, and two of the firefighters received injuries.
