German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"My colleagues in Germany are working on this (Steinmeier's visit to Ukraine. - Ed.), we talked about it. I worked for three years in the office of Federal President Steinmeier, that is, I am in constant contact with them - this visit will happen," she said.
Feldhusen noted that she could not specify a date for the visit.
"But hopefully soon," the German ambassador noted.
As a reminder, in the spring, relations between Kyiv and Berlin were further strained by the refusal of Steinmeier's visit - the Ukrainian side refused to receive him because of the long-standing close relations with Russia, inviting the federal chancellor.
Olaf Scholz admitted that he did not want to go to Kyiv until President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was there, and hinted that he was waiting for Ukraine to take steps to resolve the situation.
Later, Zelensky had a conversation with Steinmeier in which he invited the German president and chancellor to Kyiv. Olaf Scholz's visit took place in June.
