Zelensky asked NATO for more heavy weapons for a counterattack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that more heavy weapons were needed from the Alliance states to repel Russian attacks and a counterattack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

"The President of Ukraine separately informed Jens Stoltenberg about the situation on the battlefield and the need for Ukraine to more quickly receive more heavy weapons from NATO member states to successfully repel Russian attacks and proceed to a further counterattack," the presidential office said.

Zelensky also noted the importance of receiving non-lethal military assistance from the Alliance in the shortest possible time as part of the comprehensive package approved at the NATO summit in Madrid.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring full financing of the aforementioned aid.

Zelensky separately discussed the status of Ukraine's requests to NATO for humanitarian demining assistance and expressed the hope that the deliveries of the necessary equipment would be accelerated.

Zelensky invited Stoltenberg to participate in the online summit of the Crimea Platform on 23 August this year.
