Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized Brazilian President Lula da Silva for his proposal to provide security guarantees not only to Ukraine but also to Russia, La Nación reports.
During an interview with Latin American media, Zelensky said that Lula's statements are surprising and it is strange to talk about Russia's security, emphasizing that only Russia, Putin and Lula are talking about it. The President of Ukraine also urged Lula not to repeat Moscow's narratives.
Zelensky emphasized that if Lula wants to say something to him, he should sit down and express his thoughts directly. He expressed disappointment in the statements of the Brazilian president and said he expected a broader understanding of the world situation from him. The Ukrainian leader emphasized that Lula's words are sad and cause deep regret.
As a reminder, at the last meeting in Jeddah, China and Brazil stated the need for Russia's participation in developing approaches to peace. However, Zelensky expressed his position and hopes that Ukrainian interests will be taken into account in the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
