U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridgette Brink commented on the execution of Ukrainian captives in Olenivka (Donetsk Region).
She posted a message to this effect in her microblog on Twitter.
"The shelling of the remand prison in Olenivka is unacceptable, as is the report of the barbaric treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian military," the ambassador wrote.
Brink stressed that the U.S. will continue to press for accountability and provide Ukraine with what it needs to protect itself from Moscow's horrific aggression.
Recall that Russian shelling killed about 40 and wounded 130 captured servicemen of the AFU, who were held in a penal colony in the village of Olenivka in the non-controlled part of the Donetsk region.
The founder of the Azov regiment, Andriy Beletsky, stated that all Azov units had launched a hunt for those involved in the shelling of the penal colony in Olenivka.
The attack on the detention facility in Olenivka is unconscionable, as are reports of barbaric treatment of Ukrainian POWs by Russia’s forces. We will continue to pursue accountability and give Ukraine what it needs to defend itself against Moscow's horrific aggression.
