According to the results of the second round of voting for the future leader of the Conservative Party of Great Britain on Thursday, five candidates will take part in the election. This is reported by the European Party.

 

According to the head of the procedural Committee of 1922, Sir Graham Brady, 386 Conservative Party votes were cast out of a possible 389.

 

The result was that the next round of elections went to:

 

Former Equality and Local Government Minister Cami Badenoch (49 votes);

 

Trade Policy Minister Penny Mordont (83);

 

former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak (101);

 

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Liz Truss (64);

 

Chairman of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee Tom Tugendat (32).

 

Attorney General Suella Braverman received 27 votes, less than the required 30, and is dropping out of the race.

 

The Conservative Party will continue to vote in the coming days until two finalists remain.

 

Then some 160,000 Conservative Party members will choose between the two finalists, with the winner to be announced on September 5.
