Russian terror tactics should not become a global norm - Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian tactics of strikes on peaceful cities, deportations and economic pressure should not become a global norm and world order must be restored. He said this while addressing participants at the Asian Leadership Conference in Seoul.

"The hundred days that have passed since I addressed your parliament ( Korea) have fully demonstrated Russia's tactics. Every detail of it. This is terror," he said.

Zelensky recalled that "the Russian army organizes its offensive so that its cannons and rocket artillery can hit ordinary residential areas of ordinary cities."

"The second point is rocket terror. 2,960 rockets as of this morning - that's how many Russia has managed to launch at our cities. And the main target of the missiles are civilian targets," he said.

"The third point is deportation. Just imagine that number - two million people. So many of our people have already been deported to Russia. Several hundred thousand children. No one will tell you the exact numbers now - all these people who have been taken away are deprived of means of communication, their documents are taken away from them, they are intimidated and tried to be taken to remote parts of Russia to make it as difficult as possible for them to return home, to their homeland," the president said.

He also cited "economic shock" as one element of the tactic. "Look at just one example - the events in Sri Lanka. The shocking rise in food and fuel prices caused a social explosion. No one now knows how it will end. But you all know that similar explosions are possible in other countries affecting food and energy crises," Zelensky said.

According to him, the fifth point of Russian tactics is propaganda. "Perhaps no other state in the world has spent as much money on deliberately spreading disinformation, conspiracy theories, anti-science conspiracy theories, including vaccines, as Russia does," he said.

"Russian tactics must not become the global norm and world order must be restored ... And I am sincerely grateful to the Republic of Korea, which recognizes that this is the situation. That we need to act together," Zelensky noted.
