Ukraine is two steps away from a deal with Russia to export Ukrainian grain to the international market. Security issues related to Russia's position still need to be resolved.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this in an interview with El Pais.
"We are at the final stage, and now everything depends on Russia. If they really want it, grain exports will start soon. If they use it to continue their hunger games, they will continue to insist on the importance of negotiations," the minister stressed.
Kuleba assured that Ukraine is ready to export its grain to the international market.
"We are in the same boat as countries that desperately need us to send them our grain because we are just as desperate to export it," he added.
At the same time, the minister stressed that Russia is not interested in Ukraine exporting its grain.
"I see only one possible reason: they want to show countries in Africa and Asia that they want to save them from food shortages. But it's true, Russia is not interested in Ukraine exporting, because they know that if we export, we will get income from international markets, and it will make us stronger," he added.
We shall remind you that today in Turkey negotiations on the safe export of Ukrainian grain to the world market will be held. Later, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed the planned talks in Istanbul.
