Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak, the press service of the head of state has reported.

It is noted that the Ukrainian president thanked Poland and its defense department for supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russia.

"The Polish Defense Ministry supports the Ukrainian army, the firmness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is a confirmation that we are together in the current difficult situation - in this tragedy that is now taking place in Ukraine because of Russian aggression," Zelensky said.

He expressed his conviction that in the future, already in peacetime, the relations between Ukraine and Poland will develop and the countries will become even closer, including in the issue of defense cooperation.

Separately, on behalf of the Ukrainian people and on his own behalf, the head of state thanked Poland for supporting the citizens of Ukraine who have found refuge from a full-scale Russian war in the neighboring country.

For his part, Mariusz Blaszczak thanked Volodymyr Zelensky and the entire Ukrainian people for their steadfastness in standing up to the aggressor.

"Thank you, Mr. President, for your position, because the freedom and independence of Ukraine is the freedom and independence of Poland. Thank you for keeping us safe," the deputy prime minister said.
