Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he would like to see support not only from the Israeli people, but also from the Israeli authorities.

"I am grateful to the people of Israel, I am grateful to you for the sincere, emotional support of Ukrainians. For the Ukrainian flags that have appeared on your streets. We see it all and we appreciate it," he said Thursday, speaking to Israeli students via video link.

"But we would like support from your authorities. I rarely talk to journalists from Israel. It's difficult for me. I don't know what to answer to these respected people. I don't know how to answer the question, how has Israel helped?" - Zelensky said.

"We understand that it's not easy for you," he noted. But we would like to put something in the column of the aid table."

Zelensky cited the examples of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Denmark, Ireland and other countries that have accepted Ukrainian refugees. "The Israeli authorities have suspended the visa-free regime. Exactly now. I don't want to evaluate it. I want you to think about it yourself," the president said.

"Sanctions. It's not about money, it's not about business, it's about values and overall security. Japan supported it, Australia, the United States, European countries. Unfortunately, we didn't wait for Israel to join the sanctions regime," Zelensky noted.

"Why we have a misunderstanding with certain government representatives - I don't know," he noted.

Asked about the reaction to the shelling of Jewish holy sites in Ukraine, Zelensky noted that "there are many Jewish communities and communities that have been dealing with this issue. We've had support from the Jewish Congress, from the United States. I really wanted more support from the Israeli government.
