Finland has been preparing for a possible Russian attack for decades. Therefore, the country is ready to fight if this does happen. This was stated by the commander of the Finnish Defense Forces, General Timo Kivinen, writes Reuters.
"We have been systematically developing our military defense precisely for the type of combat that is being conducted there (in Ukraine - ed.), with massive use of firepower, armored vehicles, as well as aircraft," Kivinen said.
The general also stressed that his country has built a significant arsenal, but the motivation of the Finns is decisive and added that even after joining NATO, Finland will still bear the main responsibility for its defense itself.
