About 9 thousand episodes of Russian crimes on the territory of Ukraine were documented by the participants of the initiative "Tribunal for Putin". About this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine in Lviv told the executive director of the Center for Civil Liberties Aleksandra Romantsova, reports the correspondent of Ukrinform.
"Human rights defenders, who since 2014 have had experience in documenting war crimes, crimes against humanity, crimes of genocide and crimes of aggression, have united in order to, first, form a complete database of all potential episodes of such crimes, and second, interact with law enforcement throughout the country. We have representatives of the organization in every region of Ukraine who collect data on war crimes. Thus, our database now has about 9 thousand episodes, and this is not the limit for us," Romantsova said.
She stressed that the "Tribunal for Putin" initiative was created by human rights organizations to implement a large-scale tribunal over the entire vertical of Putin's power for aggression against Ukraine. The initiative cooperates with the OSCE, with UN commissions, with the European Court of Human Rights, as well as with the International Criminal Court.
"We still want to create a full-fledged tribunal on the margins of the UN, to be voted on directly by the UN General Assembly. That is, every country in the world, which is a member of the UN, will be a voice", - added Romantsova.Read on "Censor.net": War reparations: Ukraine will create a commission on international lawsuits In addition to the testimony of a person who can tell as a witness, to collect information participants in the initiative can use media reports or social networks.
Information about Russia's crimes in Ukraine can also be posted on the front page of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union's website. Representatives of the initiative guarantee that the information will not be provided to public sources.
Participants in the "Tribunal for Putin" initiative note that there is a positive case in international jurisprudence when even propagandists were brought to the tribunal. "There is the case of the Nuremberg trial, where propagandists who incited war were prosecuted," Ruslan Topolevsky of the Center for Legal and Political Studies "CEM" summed it up.
