Ukraine has better anti-corruption infrastructure than many EU members - Zelensky

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine's anti-corruption infrastructure is more developed than in many European Union member states, and therefore criticism of the fight against corruption cannot hinder Ukraine's movement to the EU. Zelensky said this in an interview with Danish media on Tuesday.

"There are questions in Denmark about Ukraine's anti-corruption infrastructure. But I think that these questions are because Danish society is not fully informed about what was going on with us before the war and what is going on now. I think that such a developed infrastructure, which worked during the war and before the war, which Ukraine has, is absent in many European Union countries," the head of state said.

As an example, he cited the functioning in Ukraine of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, as well as the launch in September 2019 of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court.

Zelensky also mentioned the decision of the Constitutional Court, which declared unconstitutional the criminal responsibility for lying in declarations.

"But we entered this political "war" within our state, we unblocked the decision of the CC completely. I dealt with this personally, I was supported by the society. And all the anti-corruption bodies worked again, they were given back absolutely all the powers," he believes.

"So we have a fully working anti-corruption infrastructure in two and a half years. People need to know about it. Therefore, when they talk about law enforcement or other reform, they should know that much has been done. Two major laws concerning judicial reform in Ukraine, which could not be voted on for all 30 years of our independence, have been passed. Yes, there are slow things on the selection of judges because of the composition of the commissions, which could not work properly when the war began, but in general out of 100% of what we could do, we did 100%. we will continue to do it", - stressed Zelensky.
