NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Sweden had taken important steps to meet Turkey's requirements for the approval of the country's application to join the Alliance. He said this while speaking at a press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Anderson, The Guardian reported.
"I welcome the fact that Sweden has already begun to change its anti-terrorism legislation. And Sweden will ensure that the legal framework for arms exports reflects a future NATO member status with new commitments to allies," he said.
"These are two important steps to address the concerns raised by Turkey," the Alliance secretary general added.
As you know, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg traveled to Finland and Sweden for talks amid Turkey's blocking of those countries' applications for membership.
