Prime Minister of Georgia said that his country deserves EU candidacy in the first place, and then Ukraine

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili believes that Georgia deserves EU candidate status in the first place, and then Ukraine and Moldova. This was reported by "Georgia Online".

According to him, Georgia has earned the candidate status on the path of reforms implemented over the past 9 years.

"Let's wait to see what the decision will be first. If it belongs to anyone, it belongs to Georgia and then to Ukraine and Moldova. When they say that Ukraine is at war and therefore needs to be granted. I'm sorry, if granting the status is determined by war, we do not want war, friends, we demand the deserved status that the Georgian people have earned through 30 years of struggling to build a democracy and the reforms carried out in the last 9 years. This is all we ask, I said it publicly, both in Davos, in Bratislava, and in Brussels, we are not asking for anything special or undeserved, we are asking for a deserved status," said Garibashvili.

"If this decision is not fair, of course, we will, accordingly, as I said, explain everything in detail to our people, to the people, to our fellow citizens, what were the main reasons why at least the shameful resolution was adopted," he added.

Earlier, Garibashvili said that in case of refusal to grant Georgia the status of candidate for membership in the European Union, the country will continue to carry out reforms and will not change the declared course on integration with Europe.
