American leader Joe Biden's statement that President Volodymyr Zelensky "did not want to hear" the warning about the Russian invasion is not quite concrete. After all, the Ukrainian authorities knew about all the scenarios that the Russian Federation was developing. This was stated by Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President, writes UP.
"Volodymyr Zelensky constantly had the relevant analytics on his desk, which was based on high-quality intelligence/data. The president also reacted carefully to all the words and warnings of our partners. The only question was always what exactly would be the volume of the invasion? Undoubtedly, the volume of the invasion that we saw on February 24th shocked many countries, including our partners," ," Podolyak noted.
He stressed that we distributed the weapons in such a way that the invaders did not manage to destroy them.
"That is to say. Once again: Ukraine understood the intentions of the Russians, waited for one or another aggressive scenario, prepared for it. This is evidenced, among other things, by the distribution of ammunition depots and weapons in general," Podolyak explains.
He noted that the lightning reaction to the multilevel invasion and the development of defense capabilities, the effective introduction of remote strikes in the first week, dramatically broke the initial Russian plans.
"On the other hand, I repeat, the volume of the invasion, the intensity of the shelling of the entire territory of our country, really could not have been foreseen. And if we proceed from the final Russian scenario - an attack with cruise missiles on the vast majority of our regions - then the entire country would have been subject to evacuation. I believe that this is simply impossible even to discuss", Podolyak says.
At the same time, he points out that it is so ridiculous to blame Ukraine, if some of the leaders themselves could not stop its full-scale aggression.
"And that's what's important, because of the speed with which the state/government was reorganized on a military track and the almost lightning-fast exit of our country from the shock. And finally, the key thing, it seems to me that it is silly to accuse something of a country that has been effectively fighting a full-fledged war against a much more resourceful opponent for more than 100 days, if the key countries failed to preventively stop the militaristic appetites of Russia, knowing them well...", Podolyak concluded.
On the eve, Bloomberg published a piece with a statement by U.S. President Joe Biden. He claims that allegedly Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not pay attention to the warning that Russia would invade Ukraine in February.
"I know a lot of people thought I might be exaggerating, but I knew, and we had the intelligence to confirm, that he (Putin) was going to cross the border. There was no doubt about it. And Zelensky didn't want to hear that, and neither did many others," Biden said.
