The Russian Federation continues to violate documents of international law. Europe must act if it does not want to lose its democracy.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this during an address to the participants of the Copenhagen Democracy Summit.
"Why, if Russia cynically violates literally all vital documents of international law, are still hesitant or block any relations with such a state? These questions indicate, in fact, that the European system may lose if words are not backed up by actions," the president said.
According to Zelensky, democracy has a duty to be effective, and international law has to work not to lose.
"And when it does, there will be no question of who will win and where the front line is," the president added.
