The European Union is providing Ukraine with another 205 million euros in humanitarian aid, the EU Delegation to Ukraine said.
"For more than 100 days we have seen unnecessary suffering and countless violations of international humanitarian law. In times of crisis, it is our responsibility to help the most affected populations. We responded quickly by greatly expanding our presence in Ukraine. With this funding, our humanitarian partners are providing food, water, medical care, protection and monetary support. We are also working closely with the Ukrainian authorities to ensure that the aid provided by EU member states meets the ever-changing needs," said European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič, who is visiting Ukraine on Thursday.
It is indicated that Lenarčič is visiting Ukraine due to a sharp increase in humanitarian needs. The purpose of his visit is to meet with humanitarian organizations and Ukrainian officials to help coordinate an EU response to these needs directly on the ground.
The EU Delegation informed that the total funding for humanitarian aid and the amount of non-financial support that the EU has provided to Ukraine in response to Russia's illegal invasion has exceeded 700 million euros. 13m euros of this amount was earmarked for projects in neighboring Moldova.
