On June 6, the Ukrainian Navy reported that it had managed to push the Russian Black Sea Fleet grouping more than 100 km away from the Ukrainian coast. This was reported by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
The report also notes that Russian naval forces were subsequently forced to change their tactics in the Black Sea and rely more on coastal defense systems in the temporarily occupied Kherson and Crimea, rather than on maritime air defense.
ISW experts' key theses:
Russian forces likely retain control of most of Severodonetsk as of June 6, although the exact situation in the city remains unclear. Control of the terrain is likely to change frequently.
Russian forces in the Izyum area made no confirmed advances, while forces advancing west of Liman secured minor gains.
Russian forces continued unsuccessful attempts to sever Ukrainian lines of communication northeast of Bakhmut.
Limited and localized Ukrainian counterattacks on June 5 forced Russian forces to focus on maintaining defensive lines north of Kharkov on June 6.
Russian occupation authorities are stepping up efforts to issue Russian passports to Ukrainian citizens and strengthen control over occupied territories.
Ukrainian defenders on the eastern borders destroyed 48 occupants along with 5 pieces of enemy equipment.
