British MPs will consider a vote of confidence in Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday night.
This is reported by Sky News.
The vote in the House of Commons will take place on Monday evening from 18:00 to 20:00 in London. The results are expected to be announced about an hour after the vote ends.
It has been confirmed that at least 54 MPs, which is 15% of Conservative MPs, have written to 1922 Committee Chairman Graham Brady calling for a vote.
To send Johnson out of office, half of the Conservative MPs plus one - now 180 MPs - must vote against him.
"Tonight is a chance to end months of speculation and allow the government to move on by realizing people's priorities," a Downing Street spokesman commented on the vote.
The British prime minister's troubles stemmed from the Partygate scandal-the Johnson government was accused of hosting liquor parties during the COVID-19 pandemic, when such gatherings were banned nationwide.
An investigation recently revealed that Johnson personally participated in these parties, something he had previously denied. This led to a drop in the rating of the head of government.
Johnson himself claims that he is ashamed and takes responsibility, but refuses to step down.
