Russian war crimes in Ukraine: the first rape case was sent to court

Ukraine sent to court the first case of rape during the full-scale invasion of Russia - the Russian military will be tried for the murder of a civilian man and sexual abuse of a woman. This was announced on Facebook by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova.

"The right start of the week - sent to court the first case of rape during the war. Mikhail Romanov, a serviceman of the 239th regiment of the 90th Guards Tank Vitebsk-Novgorod division with the Russian Federation," Venediktova wrote for the murder of a civilian husband and sexual violence against his wife.

The Kyiv regional prosecutor's office and the SBU established that in March, during the occupation of the Brovary district, the Rashist broke into a house in one of the villages and shot and killed its owner. The drunken serviceman along with another occupant raped his wife several times immediately after the murder. They threatened the woman with a weapon and violence even against her child who was nearby at the time.
