Negotiations on the exchange of Medvedchuk for fighters from "Azovstal": the Interior Ministry explained why the MP talked

People's deputy Viktor Medvedchuk decided to testify, including against the fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, amid the fact that active negotiations are underway to exchange Medvedchuk for Mariupol defenders from Azovstal. This was reported by the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Viktor Andrusiv.

"In fact, there are now active negotiations on the exchange of Medvedchuk for our heroes Azovstal. So he decided to bring clarity to this shameful story of how Poroshenko made money from the war. What will happen to him in the Russian Federation - we do not know, because the more he says now, the better," Andrusiv reported in Telegram.

"Today Medvedchuk told us what we already knew from his tapes. Both about the pipe, which Poroshenko thought was compensation for the lost business in Crimea, and about the schemes on the coals, when the whole country was buzzing about Rotterdam+," Andrusiv wrote.

Detained Viktor Medvedchuk, who is suspected of treason and terrorism assistance, told about the scheme of withdrawal from state ownership of the part of the main oil product pipeline "Samara - Western direction" for the further pumping of diesel fuel through it. This is reported by the SBU.

Reportedly, describing the essence of the scheme, Medvedchuk "detailed the role of former President Petro Poroshenko in it. Namely, that "he not only asked Medvedchuk to contact the Russian leadership, but also ensured that the necessary decisions were made in all Ukrainian instances."

"In order for this pipeline to become private property, and in fact - the property of Poroshenko himself, it was necessary to perform a number of actions... Courts, Prosecutor's Office, Antimonopoly Committee, State Property Fund - they all made decisions, of course, necessary for the personal interests of President Poroshenko," Medvedchuk reported.

Thus, the detainee, as indicated, assures that he dealt with the issues of the pipeline at the request of the ex-president. And in the end, in a year of work the pipeline earned for its owners twice as much as was invested in its redemption - up to 42 million dollars. And since May 2019, that is, after Poroshenko's termination of office, the pumping of diesel through the pipeline stopped, the SBU pointed out.

In addition, Medvedchuk, as noted, told the details of debugging in 2014-2015 the mechanism for the purchase of coal for the energy needs of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories of the so-called "L/DNR", virtually - from the leaders of the militants.

"Virtually the entire top of the state apparatus was involved, starting with the President and ending with ministers, law enforcement officers and those who directly implemented the scheme," Medvedchuk explained.

The SBU reports that he named specific names of high-ranking officials involved in harming the interests of our state - former officials, former administration of the National Bank, people's deputies and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

"The Security Service continues investigative actions with the detainee to establish all the facts, circumstances, organizers and participants in the crimes committed," the report said.

Andrusiv also noted that "very soon we will hear from Poroshenko's team that the government instead of war is engaged in the clarification of internal conflicts." "But this has nothing to do with reality," the adviser to the head of the Interior Ministry added.

In April, the SBU detained Medvedchuk after fleeing house arrest at the start of Russia's full-scale invasion on Feb. 24.
