French Minister for European Affairs Clément Bon Clemenceau said it is likely that European Union members will reach an agreement on the European Commission's proposal to ban all oil imports from Russia, Reuters reported.
"I think we could conclude an agreement this week," Bon told LCI television.
The minister added that French President Emmanuel Macron will speak with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban later today.
Hungary is the main critic of the planned embargo on Russian oil.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Monday that she had made progress in talks with Viktor Orban on the project.
