Russian occupation troops on Monday carried out an offensive in eastern Ukraine, demonstrating the greatest activity in the Slobozhansky and Donetsk directions, according to operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6 p.m.
"In the Severodonetsk direction there is a battle for Rubizhne. The enemy is trying to improve the tactical situation, seize the city and create favorable conditions for further development of offensive actions in the directions of Liman and Severodonetsk settlements. Made unsuccessful attempt to storm Voyevodka settlement. It was unsuccessful. Retreated to previously occupied positions," reads a summary posted on the Facebook page of the General Staff.
In the Limansk direction, the occupants are trying to advance with combat in the areas of the villages of Aleksandrovka and Shandrigolovo, in the Bakhmut direction they unsuccessfully fought near the settlement of Toshkovka in the Popasnya district of the Lugansk region, and in the Avdeevka direction they are trying to improve the tactical situation in the areas of the villages of Novoselovka and Novoselovka II, and the settlement of Verhnetoretske. Combat operations in the Avdiivka direction continue.
In the Slobozhansky direction the enemy did not attack, and the main efforts concentrated on defense to prevent the advance of Ukrainian troops to the state border of Ukraine.
"On the Izyum direction, there is a resupply of materiel and preparation of units for further offensive actions in the directions Izyum - Barvenkovo and Izyum - Slavyansk. The enemy is conducting aerial reconnaissance," the report says.
At the same time, the enemy continues to use all available artillery and aviation assets to bombard Ukrainian positions and destroy civilian and military infrastructure almost along the entire line of contact. In the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region, shelling and storming of the Azovstal plant resumed, despite the declared silence regime.
"In the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine the enemy continues to conduct administrative and police measures. An imitation of a so-called victory day celebration for the Russian media in certain captured settlements was carried out," the General Staff reported.
