On Sunday, the President of Ukraine will address the G7 leaders

President Volodymyr Zelensky will take part in the G7 meeting on 8 May. The Ukrainian leader will join the event via videoconference, the German government has announced.

Zelensky's participation in the May 8 meeting of the "Big Seven" was called symbolic.

"May 8 is a historic date, marking the end of World War II in Europe, which entailed terror, destruction and death in European countries," stressed the German government.

Now, during Russia's war against Ukraine, the German government called G7 unity "more important than ever before. Germany is chairing the G7 this year. The organization also includes the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom.
