The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli government for supporting the "neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv". This was reported by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"Attention was drawn to the anti-historical statements of Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, which largely explain the course of the current Israeli government in support of the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv," the statement reads.
During an interview with Mediaset, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called Jews "the greatest anti-Semites" and said that "Hitler had Jewish blood."
"Zelensky makes the argument: what kind of Nazification can they have if he's Jewish. I could be wrong, but Hitler also had Jewish blood. That means absolutely nothing. Wise Jewish people say that the fiercest anti-Semites are usually Jews," Lavrov said.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba condemned Lavrov's anti-Semitic remarks.
"Sergey Lavrov could not help but hide the deeply rooted anti-Semitism of Russian elites. His disgusting remarks are insulting to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine, Israel and the Jewish people. In a broad sense, his words demonstrate that modern Russia is full of hatred for other nations," he said.
Zelensky was outraged by Lavrov's words, which caused a loud international scandal. He believes that in this way Russia's top diplomat is actually shifting the blame for the Nazis' crimes onto the Jewish people.
Обратили внимание на антиисторические заявления главы МИД Израиля @yairlapid, во многом объясняющие курс нынешнего Правительства Израиля на поддержку неонацистского режима в Киеве.
