Law enforcers reported at least 20 cases of torture of Trostyanets residents

The State Bureau of Investigation has documented about 20 cases of torture of the local population of Trostyanets in a week. A new department for the investigation of crimes related to Russian aggression is working on the spot, writes the press service of the SBI.

"Investigators of the newly created unit together with the investigators of the Main investigation department of the National police worked on the city of Irpen. Since April 20, 2022 employees of the DBR continued to work in the city of Trostyanets Sumy region. SBI constantly documents the facts of the presence of Russian invaders. The locations of their combat units, which were shelled, have already been established. Documents and personal belongings of the Russian servicemen have also been seized," the SBI reported.

It is reported that investigators have inspected 154 streets of the city damaged by artillery shelling. That's about 1,200 hectares of urban development, which is about 45% of the total area of Trostyanets.

Also law enforcement identified and recorded damage to 122 residential buildings, as well as hospitals.

"In the course of investigations, the places where the occupants tortured civilians have been established. At least 20 such cases have now been recorded. Batons, handcuffs, metal pliers and clothes of the victims with traces of blood were found at the scenes of the crimes," the press service reported.

It is noted that during inspections, employees of the SBI also found stretches of grenades and remnants of enemy ammunition.

The exhumation of dead bodies of local residents continues as part of the criminal proceedings and forensic medical examinations are being appointed. A full range of necessary investigative actions is being carried out. In particular, an aerial reconnaissance specialist is fixing objects for inspection from the air and making 3D models.

Also in the course of investigative and operational activities it was possible to return six cars, stolen during the occupation, to local residents after appropriate examinations, said the SBI.

At present, the operational and investigative measures are continuing.
