Russian forces are seeking to demonstrate significant gains in Ukraine before Victory Day on May 9, which could affect their speed in conducting military operations. The intelligence update was published by the U.K. Ministry of Defense on Twitter.
"Russia probably wants to demonstrate significant gains before the annual Victory Day celebrations on May 9. This could affect how quickly and decisively they attempt to conduct operations on the eve of that date," the report said.
Russian forces, intelligence informs, are now advancing from strongholds in Donbass toward Kramatorsk, which continues to come under constant rocket fire.
As noted, a high level of Russian air activity persists. Thus, Russia is trying to provide direct support from the sky to its offensive in eastern Ukraine, as well as destroy Ukrainian air defenses.
According to the AFU General Staff, the Russian occupants have concentrated more than 90 attack and multi-purpose helicopters in the Belgorod Region.
