Russian President Vladimir Putin named the reason for the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to him, the Russian side was allegedly forced by the "tragedy in Donbas".

"The tragedy in Donbas forced Russia to launch a special military operation in Ukraine," Putin said.

According to him, Russia will act consistently and ensure that "life in Donbas is normalized." He also expressed confidence that it was Russia that would supposedly bring peace to the Donbas.
