Evacuation from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhya will begin today at 14:00. This is reported by the Mariupol City Council.
"Today at 14:00 evacuation from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhya begins. Determined point of collection and boarding of people in buses - Taganrogskaya street in front of the Brewery", - said in the message.
Reported further additional boarding of people in two locations:
- Victory Avenue, 1 near the plant office " Azovstal;
- Shevchenko Boulevard at the ring near Port City.
The route of the column: Mariupol - Mangush - Berdyansk - Tokmak - Orekhov - Zaporizhzhya.
"Native Mariupol residents, for these long and incredibly difficult days you survived in inhumane conditions. You were in an information vacuum, without access to any information. You may have heard different things. But I want you to know the main thing - they are waiting for you in Zaporizhzhya. It is safe there. Don't be afraid and evacuate to Zaporizhzhya where you will get all the necessary assistance - food, medicines, essentials, and the main thing - you will be safe," said Mariupol Mayor Vadim Boychenko.
According to him, 200 thousand Mariupol residents have already been able to leave the city.
"And I appeal to Mariupol residents who have already left and are safe today. If you have relatives left in Mariupol, try to contact them by all means. Call, write and say that there is a possibility to go to Zaporizhzhya, where it is safe," Boychenko said.
Deputy Prime Minister for the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said that today, April 20, a humanitarian corridor was planned for evacuation from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhya.
After this information, Boychenko said that more work needs to be done to make the "green corridor" from Mariupol happen.
Meanwhile, it is known that the occupants in Mariupol threaten to shoot all residents without white armbands.
