Attempts by Russian troops on the night of April 19 to advance in eastern Ukraine were unsuccessful. They are countered by the most combat-ready units of the Ukrainian army. Oleksiy Arestovich, adviser to the head of the presidential office, said this in an address.

According to him, the enemy has directed its efforts to probe the defense, and then focus on weaknesses.

"That is exactly what they tried to do this night, but they failed. Not a single attempt to advance has succeeded, despite attempts to launch numerous air and artillery strikes against our defenders. The Ukrainian armed forces are working skillfully. We need to understand that the most combat-ready group is concentrated just in the direction of the Russian offensive," Arestovich noted.

He added that the enemy's plan to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and present this as the main goal of the war would fail.
