The United States does not currently have enough information to confirm what caused the explosion on the Russian cruiser Moskva, but does not reject the Ukrainian missile version. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said this in an interview with MSNBC on Thursday.
"We know there was an explosion. From the pictures that we have at our disposal, the explosion looks serious. We don't know what caused it," Kirby said, adding that the ship was moving on its own after the explosion, probably to the port of Sevastopol.
"We've seen reports on social media that it may have been a Ukrainian coastal defense missile that hit it. We can't rule that out, right now we don't have enough information," he added.
