In Mariupol, a unit of the 36th Marine Brigade was captured while trying to break through. This information was confirmed by Oleksiy Arestovich, advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, in an interview with Mark Feygin.

"I must say that part of the 36th Marine Brigade was captured while trying to break through. It's not a thousand people, much less. The whole thousand men thing is total bullshit, multiplied several times over. But they got caught. Some went to join with Azov, and some went to break through elsewhere, because they were disconnected from each other and made a decision based on the situation. And the one that went in the other direction came under artillery and air strikes, lost many people and was captured in the battle," said Arestovich.

According to him, the part of the brigade that managed to break through is ready to fight on.

Earlier, the Russian mass media reported that 1,026 Ukrainian servicemen of the 36th Marine Brigade in Mariupol had voluntarily laid down their arms and surrendered.

In Mariupol, units of the 36th Marine Brigade broke out of the enemy encirclement and merged with the Azov regiment, as a result of which the city's defense system was strengthened.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the Ukrainian defenders of Mariupol were confronted by 10,000 Russian occupants, so if they manage to hold the city, the fascists will not be able to leave to the east of Ukraine.

General Valeriy Zaluzhny, commander-in-chief of the AFU, said that the defense of Mariupol continues. Communication with the units heroically holding the city is stable and maintained.
