Japan decided to freeze the assets of Russia's largest banks - Sberbank and Alfa Bank. In addition, the sanctions were imposed on 398 people and 28 companies from Russia.

The sanctions were imposed on State Duma deputies, Russian Navy Commander Nikolai Yevmenov, Commander of the Ground Forces Oleg Salyukov, Air Force Commander Sergei Dronov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force Sergei Surovikin, JSC NPK Tehmash and MKB Vympel.
In addition, the Japanese government approved a ban on new investment in Russia. So, since May 12, new investments from Japan to Russia may be made only on special permits.
Recall that Japanese insurers refused to insure companies that operate in Russia.
