Ukraine wants to ban Russian music on radio and television

The Verkhovna Rada has registered draft law No7273 on the prohibition of music by Russian performers on radio and television.

The explanatory note of the draft law says that it is proposed to amend Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On Television and Radio Broadcasting" to introduce a quota of 50% of musical works in the Ukrainian language for radio stations and musical TV channels and to add a new article which would ban reproduction of musical products from the aggressor state.

As they noted, the corresponding ban will be valid for the period until the liberation of all occupied Ukrainian territories and termination of aggression from the Russian Federation and will apply not only to TV and radio, but also reproduction of audiovisual works performed by citizens and residents of the aggressor state on radio, television, in entertainment institutions, public transport (in municipal and private carriers), educational institutions, institutions of culture and leisure, hotel and restaurant business, cinemas, communes, etc.

"Adoption of this bill will allow to protect our cultural space with the only purpose - never again to allow possible violence, murder and looting by the enraged "Russian world" by increasing the share of songs in Ukrainian language in the air of Ukrainian radio stations and banning the reproduction of music products of origin of the aggressor state", - says the explanatory note.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy prepared a new list of 47 odious pro-Putin skomorokhoz who have publicly declared their support for Putin's war crimes in Ukraine.
