The European Union intends to assist prosecutors general of the International Criminal Court and Ukraine in collecting evidence of war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine. This was announced Monday in Luxembourg at the end of a meeting of EU foreign ministers, European Union High Representative Josep Borrell, writes UNN.
"This morning we had a meeting with the prosecutor general of the International Criminal Court. They talked about how to make Russia accountable for massive violations of international law. We will provide assistance by documenting war crimes," Borrell said.
In addition, he said, the ministers discussed the current situation with the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court as well as with the prosecutor general of Ukraine via video conference.
"We will support both prosecutors financially and through our team that is on the ground is the EU Advisory Mission, which was in Ukraine before the war. They will now work in cooperation with the Ukrainian side, with the prosecutor general, to guarantee the investigation and the collection of evidence on the ground," the EU High Representative detailed.
