Thirty-three thousand local residents have been deported from Mariupol since the beginning of the war. They were taken to Russia and the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region. This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova.
"In the occupied parts of the city now continues a tough sweeping of civilians, which is carried out with the assistance of local collaborators. They are the ones handing over to the occupiers the data of Mariupol residents, in particular workers of state institutions and law enforcement agencies," Denisova said.
According to her, part of the deportees ends up in filtration camps. Now there are about 10 thousand people there.
"The actions of the Rascist army in Mariupol are an act of genocide of the Ukrainian people, in accordance with the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide and Article 6 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court," the report said.
