Britain will send arms worth a total of 100 million pounds to Ukraine, including Starstreak MANPADS, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Friday, The Guardian reports.
"Today I can announce that Britain will send high-quality military equipment worth 100 million pounds to Ukraine's armed forces, including Starstreak MANPADS, another 800 anti-tank missiles and high-precision ammunition...," Johnson said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Johnson also noted Germany's attempts to reduce its dependence on Russian fossil fuels.
"This is not easy for any of us, and I applaud the strong decisions by the government of Olaf Scholz to move Germany away from Russian hydrocarbons," Johnson said.
Scholz himself said that Germany is actively working to become independent of oil imports from Russia, and he believes this could happen as soon as this year.
Also, the German chancellor once again called on Russia to "negotiate a cease-fire and withdraw all troops" from Ukraine.
