More and more Ukrainians do not believe in the resumption of friendship with the Russians - poll

The number of those who believe that it is impossible to restore friendly relations between the Ukrainians and the Russians (from 42% to 64%) has increased by one and a half times in Ukraine over a month. This is indicated by the results of the poll conducted by the Sociological group "Rating" on April 6.

"Over the last month, the number of those who think that the restoration of friendly relations between the Ukrainians and the Russians is impossible at all has increased by half (from 42% to 64%). 22% believe that this may happen in at least 20-30 years. Those who see such reconciliation in the perspective up to 15 years are about 10%," says the results of the survey.

It is noted that even in the regions of the south and east more than half of the respondents do not believe in renewal of friendship between the peoples.

In addition, the absolute majority (91%) do not support the thesis that "Russians and Ukrainians are one people."

"Those who have such an opinion today are only 8% (in August 2021 there were 41%, in March 2022 - 21%). The support of such an idea is still fixed among 23% of inhabitants of the East and 13% of senior respondents. In other macro-regions and age groups there is almost no support for such a thesis," reads the results of the survey.

The poll was conducted on April 6. The audience: the population of Ukraine aged 18 and older in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of the Crimea and Donbas. The sample is representative for age, gender and type of settlement. Sample population: 1200 respondents. Survey method: CATI (computer assisted telephone interviews). Research representativeness error with a 0.95 confidence probability: not more than 2.8%.
