In Rubizhne, Luhansk region Russian occupants hit a cistern with nitric acid, people are asked not to leave shelters, close doors and windows, said the head of the Luhansk OVA Sergey Gaidai in Telegram.

"In Rubizhne orcs got into a tank with nitric acid. Urgent! Do not come out of shelters! If you are indoors - close the doors and windows!" - Gaidai wrote.

"Prepare wet face masks," stressed the OVA chairman.

"Watch for wind direction! Watch for information!" - he noted.

He explained the effects of the substance on humans: nitric acid is dangerous when inhaled, swallowed and when it comes into contact with skin and mucous membranes. "Acid vapors cause an irritant effect on the respiratory tract. In mild poisonings there are signs of bronchitis, mild bronchiolitis, dizziness, drowsiness; in severe poisonings - pulmonary edema. Gas masks are used to protect against nitric acid fumes and mist," said the head of OVA.

When the eyes are locally exposed to nitric acid, it causes severe damage with severe necrosis of the cornea and conjunctiva, which leads to loss of vision, the head of the OVA noted.

"First aid: if nitric acid enters the eyes, you must rinse them with running water for 10-30 minutes. In case of contact with skin - wash the affected surface with water, adding baking soda and soap. In case of ingestion of nitric acid, the stomach should be flushed with large amounts of water," he said.
