Ukraine continues to insist on imposing full energy sanctions against Russia - Galushchenko

Ukraine needs to strengthen sanctions pressure on Russia, including the introduction of sanctions in the energy sector as a whole, in order to stop the flow of money to the aggressor country.

Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said this in an interview with the German publication Tagesspiegel, the Energy Ministry said on Facebook.

"We need to increase pressure on Russia. Russia must stop this aggression. We are convinced: really tough sanctions can stop this war. We need energy sanctions in general to stop the flow of Western money that Putin needs to support his war economy," Galushchenko said.

He stressed that Ukraine does not have time to watch the Russian economy slowly decline, and that what is needed now is maximum influence not only on Putin's regime, but also on the Russian population.

"Our people are being killed every day. This madness needs to stop. Full energy sanctions are what we need," Galushchenko stressed.

As reported, according to Bloomberg, without a full oil and gas embargo, Russia could end the year with a record current account surplus of $240 billion. Experts expect that Russia will earn almost $321 billion from energy exports this year, more than a third more than in 2021.
