The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the national action plan on energy efficiency until 2030. It was presented in the government by Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko, reports UNN.

"The plan was developed in pursuance of appropriate measures for the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. It is also stipulated in the priority actions of the government in 2021. And it is necessary to take into account that in 2020 the previous national plan expires. The aim of the project is to define a national goal for energy efficiency until 2030, in accordance with European approaches and directives", - the Minister said.

The national plan stipulates, among other things:

- primary energy consumption in 2030 should not exceed 91.5 million tons of oil equivalent (reduction of 22.3%);

- final consumption should not exceed 50.5 million tons of oil equivalent (17.1% reduction).

According to the Minister, an important element in the implementation of the national plan is the reduction of carbon emissions by 56.6 million tons annually.

Back in November, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed the law on energy efficiency. The document aims to create new framework conditions to stimulate energy efficiency in all sectors of the economy.
