Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the signing of a decree on the transfer of payments for gas with so-called unfriendly countries in rubles. The new rules will take effect on April 1, Vesti reports.
Now, buyers of Russian gas are obliged to open ruble accounts in Russian banks. Putin also said that all existing gas supply contracts will be suspended if buyers from "unfriendly countries" do not comply with the new requirements of Russia. The Russian president also confirmed his intention to supply gas in the previously agreed volumes.
