UN Refugee Agency Staff Missing in Mariupol

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Ukraine cannot contact some of its staff in Mariupol. The organization's High Commissioner Filippo Grandi called on the Russian occupiers to comply with their obligations to evacuate civilians.

This was reported by CNN.

"Some (Agency employees) managed to get out. Some are inside and we can't reach them at the moment. These are my colleagues," Grandi told the network.

The U.N. High Commissioner called for a "firm commitment" from Russian captors that there would be no hostilities and to allow humanitarian corridors to be managed. Grandi added that this is very difficult and demanded such assurances because it is impossible to evacuate civilians without them.

Recall that fighting in Mariupol has not stopped for the last few days. Every day local residents are trying to leave the city - on March 30, they managed to evacuate over 800 people to Zaporizhzhia.
